In 2010, Larry was one of eight ASID members selected for membership in the ASID College of Fellows. This title represents "the highest honor bestowed on a member by the Society and is given in recognition of outstanding service and contributions to the Society, the profession and the interior design industry."

In honoring Larry, the Society praised his accomplishments in historic preservation, noting him as a 'designers designer' whose "aesthetic excellence, quality and professionalism shine through in his designs.' He was sited for his 'impeccable attention to detail and historic authenticity' and further acknowledged for his 'flawless sense of space planning and color coordination.' Larry was also recognized for 'his research and its contribution to the body of knowledge in historic preservation.'

Larry has been active fro many years in the National Trust for Historic Preservation as well as other groups. He has held a number of volunteer positions in the ASID Washington Metro Chapter and with the ASID Foundation. His many awards include his induction into the Washington Design Center's Hall of fame in 2005 and receipt of Interior Design Medalist outstanding alumni award from Virginia Commonwealth University.
